Can mods change a member's profile, ban a user, etc.?

I checked for other functions that mods can do aside from editing/moving/deleting posts, but it seems like that's the only thing they can do. in some other forums, mods can also access another user's profile and change, say, the signature if it's in violation of the forum rules. the mod can also ban a user, if given permission by the admin. i'd like to know, can the mods in SMF do this and what other functions do they have?

'Mod' is a very general term. There all kinds of mods that can do all kinds of things. Just browse / search through them.

I think he's talking about moderators, not modifications

and no...   board level mods will not be able to do that...   because they are ONLY mods within their specific board, the moment they try to access an admin function outside their board, they will not have permissions any more.
Unless, of course, you establish a separate group that all mods belong to and give THAT group permission to do so...

global mods on the other hand, are a global group and can do so...  if you grant them permission to do so.

Yes I'm talking about Global Moderators. I think I alread found it. I just need to give permission to the Global Mods. In their case, if I want them able to edit a member's signature, then I'll need to give them permission to "Edit additional profile settings" in "Member Profiles"
