when i try to use the upload&install function in my mabo it tells me

Unzip the package, and find inside two files:  readme.html and com_smf.zip.  Read the readme.html, and install the com_smf.zip as a component.

acutally that is what i did, i tried to install com_smf.zip as a component and got that error....

i was able to fix that as uploading com_smf.zip unzipped to the webserver and install i via absolute path but now i get an error wich says that it can create /com_smf/"something"

the problem is i did all the chmods as listed in the readme, i also cant chmod the automatic created /com_smf/ folder to 777

Use Webadmin script to CHMOD your file and folders

ok now i think i found the problem, when i install the component via the mambo thingy, it sets the user rights to root, i don't have root access on my host...

anyone got a clue how to tell mambo that it should edit the user & group rights to my account?

Use the script mentioned in the above post to change file permission or use MamboXplorer component.
