I use phpBB2. (latest 2.0.20)

I downloaded the latest SMF and installed it...

Soon after, I run the converter program and everything went smooth...

EXCEPT that only one(???) forum got converted.

Why is it that?

That is my phpBB2 forum: www.gadgetkorea.com/index.php

That is my SMF forum: www.gadgetkorea.com/smf

Help!

Trekkie101

May I ask what converter you used?

Could you also run a Recount and Error Check from the Maintenance section in your Admin Panel.

I downloaded the converter from this site...

the official one, I think.

Also, I have run everything from the maintainance screen...but nothing changed.

Harzem

It's strange.

You have the second board, http://gadgetkorea.com/smf/index.php?board=2.0 but it doesn't show in the main page. Also, the name of this board is incorrect.

From maintenance, when you run "repair errors" thing, you also should scroll down and click Yes. It first displays the errors, not fixes them. You should click to yes at the bottom.

BoA

Well..I did and see what happened... :'(

BoA

The boards are under this salvage area and don't come up properly... :(

Trekkie101

Are you using phpBB 1.5 supermod thing?

I believe the convertor had trouble getting the content and then took as much as it could, the content in your phpBB database may not have been what was expected, buy your posts, members, and most important data is across, just board names seem a bit wonky.

J. Williams

BoA,you need to downgrade phpbb plus if you wish to convert more correctly.

If its own modded, then use the clean sql tables tool :D

We can find the problem of your new forum, 1.0.7.

But I suggest you to use SMF 1.1 RC2, because you will love it :). It has a better theme which will seem like your old site. And its easier to administer.

You can find the converter for 1.1 RC2 in "1.1 converters" topic in "converters and importers" board.

Also moving this topic to there :)

BoA

Thanks guys...

I dont' use that super phpBB thing.

It is just a heavily modded phpBB2.

Anyway, what's that 1.1RC2? Is it a beta version of the coming up SMF?

Harzem

1.1 RC2 is the release candidate of 1.1 version. It is more than a beta. 1.1 Beta series have ended, its now at release candidate stage. Its almost stable, there are some bugs that you will probably never encounter.

It has the forum theme this site uses. An example of it in use: http://www.phpscripters.net/forum/
You can modify the apperance as you wish, of course :)

I suggest you to set up a 1.1 RC2 on a different folder and have a look at it yourself :)

BoA

Hmm...OK, sounds sweet.

I will delete the old SMF and install that.

Hopefully it works this time...:)

Harzem

You need a different converter, don't forget it.
You can find the converter for 1.1 RC2 in "[BETA] SMF 1.1 RC2 Converter - Including update for vB 3.5" topic.

BoA

Oh, thanks.

So, does that mean that I have to use that convert.php instead of the other one?

Harzem

Yes, you should forget about the old converter.

In the topic I pointed, there is a convert.php and also a series of sql files. Pick up the necessary sql file from tehe (it is for phpBB) and use them together. There are instructions in that topic also :)

BoA

OK, but I get this error during conversion:

Converting board access... Unsuccessful!
This query:

    (3, -7, 'poll_post'),
    (3, -7, 'poll_add_own');

Caused the error:

Duplicate entry '-1-0-poll_view' for key 1

Any idea how to fix it?

Harzem

I'm not sure, but did you have any mods on phpBB about polls?

BoA

Actually, no..

Just the standard one.

The board now look fine:

www.gadgetkorea.com/smf

But there are no members!:(

Harzem

After the "Converting board access... Unsuccessful!" conversion, your boards are converted, but then the converter stopped. So the members couldn't be converted yet.

I don't know what's the problem, but I'm sure there is one :P I think the problem at your forum is the portal for phpBB.

Now, let's try yet another converter :D

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=38966.0

There are again two files here, convert.php and phpbb2_to_smf.sql file. Try using this combination.

If it gives an error at converting Statistics, it is successful :)

Unfortunately, nothing changed... :(

I get the same error as above.

Hmm...maybe I should deactivate the portal for now?

I would like to use SMF...::)

Harzem

How fast you are trying things :o

Did it give the same error?

BoA

Yes...same errors.

I am really excited about SMF..

I really wish to run it! :)

Any other ideas??

Harzem

Goto your admin panel in SMF. At the left click "Forum Maintenance". Do all the maintenances.

I have a strong feeling that you have your members converted ;)

BoA

THANK YOU!

The site is now working, all members and topics are there! 8)
