How to install smilies (emotions)?

Hi All, could you please tell me how to install smilies (or is it smileys). I've download a few free msn images put them all in a folder and then FTP'd them but it's not detected. what do I have to do?

Remember they go into Smileys directory for example:

Smileys/Bored/ - Smilies go here,then go to admin cp
