Word Replacer

I was wondering is there a mod out, that allows a person to change or replace - find and replace a certain word to another. The same function used in Notebook. That could be implemented for the entire board.

If not, this would be a handy tool for those who has multiple forums under different domains but same content. So all an admin would need to do is backup the database & 1 forum then run the mod for each domain.

I'm also confused as to what you are asking...  but I was assuming you were asking about replacing a word within a FILE instead of an online replace

In which case, I suggest you use a text editor like UltraEdit or ConText...

Yes, the censor will do that quite well. I have mine set so that the name "Hitler" is automatically changed to read "Mary Poppins" since I find very few people will write to me complaining that people are quoting Mary Poppins.

What user is asking for a feature like in notepad where u press ctrl+h and replace say a word "jamesbod" with "britney" . Word Censor is something that will change words all over the forums but what i understand with what the user is asking is will just change one word or sentence only in one particular thread or reply.

You correct, but instead in one particular thread or reply, I want the to be able apply it to the entire site/forum.


I would like to create sister sites that contain the same info, with the exception of the domain name being different. So it would be easier to have a mod that works like that notepad feature so it can change/replace every instance of a word (meaning the current domain name) to a new word/name throughout the entire site. It would also be nice to choose either a thread,topic or the entire site.

ummm....   You are not actually asking for anything to do with the forum itself.

the only file you need to change is settings.php. That is the only location that the forum name and basic url information is stored.

other than that, all information is stored in the database, not in any file...  so, if you are duplicating everything, including content, then you do a database export, save it as a text file, use a text editor, do a global replace and then import it into a database at the new site...
