When I try to go into "Avatar Settings" I get the following message:

LainaaThere was a problem loading the \Themes\default/languages/ManagePermissions.english.php template or language file.

Here's the highlighted code it displays:

224: $txt['permission_disable_postgroups_warning'
] = 'Disabling this setting will remove permissions currently set to post count based groups.';local permissions means that
for that board, you can set every permission for
every membergroup.';

Am I missing some slashes?  Fresh upgrade last night, and everything else seems to be working pretty well.

Thanks,

DeS

Upload a fresh copy of ManagePermissions.english.php.

Done it twice now, and the error has changed, but for the same file.

you definitely have issues....   that second bit (after the first semicolon is NOT supposed to be there.

get a FRESH copy of the file directly from the archive...
do NOT open in an editor
load it using FTP and BINARY mode.

Also make sure your FTP client is set to overwrite files and not "resume" or "skip".

OK, I pulled down the full install package, pulled that file out, stuck in the spot that the parse error is pointing to, but here's my confusion:  I'm not using the default theme, I'm using smFox... is that considered the "default" by the software and I'm sticking this file in the wrong directory?  Because I just got it again:

LainaaParse error: parse error in E:\inetpub\vhosts\springdalegrads.com\httpdocs\forum\Themes\default\languages\ManagePermissions.english.php on line 226

Nope, that can't be it.  Its still pulling on that same directory...I'm clueless.  If anyone else has an idea, I'm all ears.  The forum is working fine otherwise, just can't change the avatar settings, or the calendar settings.

Kindred

if a file is not present in a theme, then the system will use the files from the default theme...   so, loading the ManagePermissions.english.php inot the default/languages directory is completely correct.

if you PM me your FTP user/password information and a url, I will see what I can do for you.

Yep... I have a hard time believing it's the reloaded file, simply because two separate copies have gone in there.  I noticed that SmartFTP was set for "Cached directories" last night, so I un-set that, deleted it from the directory and reloaded the file yet again, still with no luck.  I feel like it has to do with the upgrade process somehow, not sure why it would, but obviously if hundreds of people are using the same exact file with no problem it has to be something with my install.

should be fixed.

Outstanding...now, are you going to share?   :)

And thank you very much...

Kindred

whatever you were doing what just writing the SAME error line...  somehow line 224 of your file got corrupted and you just kept writing the same error.

I loaded a verified clean copy from my system, using FTP, overwriting....

Well, I'd say "crap..." but I don't know how I could have done it any differently.  Would passive vs. active FTP have made any difference?  I know I was using binary...

Kindred

passive vs active only makes a difference in getting through firewalls.

I don't know what was causing it...  there is a chance that your original file on your home system was corrupted.
