CHMOD Settings ???

I think I figured out my problems with my forum. Every once in awhile it would blow up, reset the theme and everyones password would be invalid. I had the CHMOD of the files changed to 0777 as recomended by the installation. My host said that leaves me wide open to hacking and I should set it to 0756 which is what I did then it wouldn't let me install.

Long storyu short, what should the CHMOD settings be on my files ?

If you have any concerns regarding security then I would suggest you install with the files set at CHMOD 777 and then after you have finished the installation you CHMOD them to 755 and see if you still get properly functionality.
