After installing Joomla and SMF, I have also installed the SMF bridge with the forum;  I am having a lot of problems especially registration.  I looked for similar issues on the forum but could not see the same type of problem.  Please help me in any way you can.  THANKS in advance.

While I am testing these problems the security settings have really botheredme (although not really a problem but would be good to know how to set them off while testing.)

Thanks,

Did you upgrade from a previous bridge?

Do you have a URL?

Kindred

there is no way to allow the same email for multiple accounts...

And you can not register twice in a row from the same computer... but if you shut down the browser and then go to the site again in a new browser window, it should allow you to register.

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

Thanks Kindred and Orstio,

No I did not upgrade the bridge. It was a direct install.
URL: hxxp:nepalunited.com [nonactive] Please try to register and see what I mean.

So, the brower is saving sessions?, email?, IP? info on the computer (cookies) to not allow this registration process more than once from the same computer? I will try closing my browser again. Since it is very awkward to test the process with this issue.

Thanks again,

Can you list the contents of your jos_smf_config table in your Joomla database?

sach

Hi Orstio,

The table looks like:

I am trying to fig out what the table does as it looks like the bride info.  Please guide me thru this issue. I'd really like to understand the problem than just the quick fix.
So, if it does occur again I can just put out the fire instead of bothering you (guys).

Thanks much,

Sach

Orstio

This is the query that is failing and causing you the error:

// What Mambo group do we put you in?  SMF Newbies are group #4...
$mos_sync_groups = mysql_query("
SELECT `value2`
FROM {$mosConfig_dbprefix}smf_config
WHERE `variable` = 'sync_group' AND `value1`='4'
");
list($group) = mysql_fetch_row($mos_sync_groups);

According to the information you posted, this query should return a value of 18 into $group....

Does your SMF database user have access to your Joomla database?

sach

Thanks man !

I see that now, I just did'nt know where that DB had to look at .  So, the fetch was not occuring becuase the user didn't have rights and I recall now that I had missed this step for intall.
