Banging my head against the wall here, I've installed the bridge 1.1.4 , have smf working fine with 400 users in, And joomla 1.0.8 running.

In Joomla I have one user (super admin ID) and I want to transfer the 400 users from SMF to Joomla thus creating a bridge between the 2.

I select the bridge config and migrate the users to Joomla, 400 copy accross fine.

however when using the bridge module nobody seems to be able to login to joomla, It only logs in the users to SMF. I investigated this a while back and when you register a new user the bridge works fine.

I've done some initial investigations and found that the password field within the Jos_users table is not showing encrypted password but instead the word migrated apears.


Is there a bug with the module or am I doing something wrong, spent several hours so far trying to work out whats causing the problem, I have faith in this module...

That is correct, but it should allow the login, as long as the user is using the bridge login module.

Are the users visible in the Joomla backend?

The users are visable on the backend - but not shown at logged on (green tick)

I've just un-installed the bridge, then re-installed with the succesfully message.

however when I now go to my main site I get the following error message.

You need to set the path to SMF in your bridge config after installing.

I've just un-installed the bridge, then re-installed with the succesfully message.

Were you hoping that somehow the server would learn something if you repeated the installation?  It would seem to me that if you had a successfully installed bridge, uninstalling and reinstalling may open up more avenues for things to go wrong, which is why I usually suggest not doing that.

That aside..

I've managed to fix the errors, I had to get the smf bridge config to create the path automatically.

Whilst actioning the migration The SMF groups I set admin  to super admin to the Joomla groups
                                        The rest to Registered

The Migration worked and so did the sync (or at least I think it did no errors)

If I log on via the front end as an admin account everything works fine.
However If I log on via the front end with a registered account then it logs on but does'nt show the user logged on via the joomla backend , although there the account exists and is visable.

As it stands I have 395 accounts that will only log on to SMF but not joomla
5 Admin accounts that work.


If you or anyone else could help out I would be very greatful.

Are your users loggin in to the bridge, or are they accessing the forum directly?  They will not be logged in to Joomla if they login to the forum directly.  They must login through the bridge in order to be logged into both.

Also, you are aware that the Joomla login side of the bridge is case sensitive?  If your username is ScoobyX, you will not be able to login as scoobyx.

Problem solved, thankyou. 

The test user was logging on the correct SMF login box, the problem however stems down to the case, the login id was typed in the wrong case, because nothing was returned back and smf worked fine it apeared to be a problem.
