Hello and welcome to SMF,

In the menu bar you will see 'down loads' 1.1.rc2 is available somewhere in there. I am looking for it myself to upgrade from 1.0.7. Both work ok.

When you dl it then you need to FTP to your host so its available in your admin. Go to 'packages' in your admin I think it is from memory.

You will see this in packages:

Package Manager - Browse Packages
Modification Packages
   Mod Name Version
1. SMF 1.0.7 / 1.1 RC2 Update 1.0   [ Uninstall ] [ List Files ] [ Delete ]
Installed mods:  current version  older version

[ Download New Packages ]
[ View and Remove Installed Packages ]

Hi,
SMF 1.0.7 is the latest stable release, whereas SMF 1.1 RC2 is the latest release candidate (testing) release. Basically, if you want to use a version that's guaranteed to be stable, then use SMF 1.0.7. If, on the other hand, you want to use the very latest features (and don't mind if there's still a few bugs), then you might use SMF 1.1 RC2 instead.

Regarding your comment on the MODs, most MODs should work on either version. Usually, MODs designed for SMF 1.0.5 or 1.0.6 will also work on SMF 1.0.7.

Hi mega

I just upgraded from 1.0.7 to 1.1 rc 2 and I can't recommend it enough. The upgrade was easy as! And I havent found any problems with it at all. Go for it.

There are some great instructions on how to upgrade in this section of the forum - just above your post where it's been "stickied" to the top of the "Install and Upgrade Help" section. Just follow those instructions and you shouldn't have a problem.

Cheers

Same as flynn,

I have had no problems (touch wood) since installing the SMF 1.1 RC2, and I do like it. I have had it running since January.

So, you can actually upgrade to version to 1.1RC2 via the package manager?

[Edited] - I see I've done those installations... but the new features ain't available! Not sure why you have to upload this update?!... it doesn't change your version to 1.1 RC2

You can't upgrade using package manager from 1.0.7 to 1.1 RC2. You should follow manual upgrade instructions :)

Package manager upgrades are for small upgrades. for example 1.0.6 > 1.0.7

Thanx Harz... that's what I thought!  ;)
