How do I use a theme once I find one I love and download it?

I swear I'm not usually this stupid, but I've never done this before.  I have SMF installed.  I want to change it from the default theme.  I have found two free ones on the internet that I like, and downloaded them to my computer.  Now where do I upload them to on my server?  And what do I have to do once they are uploaded in the right folder or directory or whatever?

I have Mac OS 10.2.8, using Firefox and Fetch.  Hosted on bluehost.com.  Using Nvu to design the site.  Here's the location of the current forum that I'm trying to change the theme of: http://sturgisguards.org/forums/ [nofollow]   and here's the location of my phpinfo: http://www.sturgisguards.org/phpinfo.php [nofollow]    Let me know if you need any more info to help me.

If you want to do it manually uploaded the unarchived version to your themes folder using a ftp client but your easier to go to your Admin Panel --> Theme and Layout Settings --> Install a New Theme now look for From File beside that you will see a box click browse and look for the archived version of the theme you want to install then click on Install

Make sure that you use a theme compatable to your forum

1.0.x themes will not work fully on a RC2 forum and vice versa RC2 themes will not work fully on a 1.0.x forum

Ok, there's two I could be happy with.  One is the Pn-Pn theme in orange, or Mountain Orange.  I can get the Pn-Pn to work but it's purple & black, and I want the orange one.  I have uploaded/installed Mountain Orange, but it just shows the default SMF when I try to use it.  What's up?  Either one of those would work, so I guess I need to know either how to change the color in the Pn-Pn so the orange one comes up OR how to get MO to work correctly.

Here is my Support Info, if that helps:

I tried to upload the folder using "From a file", but it wouldn't let me select a folder.  So, then I used Fetch to FTP them into my Themes directory, and that worked.  They are both there.  So then, I used "From a directory on the server" and typed in the path to install them.  Now, they both come up in my "Overall forum default" and "Reset everyone to" drop down menus in the Themes and Layout Settings.  I selected the Pn-Pn, and it applied, but it's the dark purple one.  i tried selecting Mountain Orange and it just comes up as the default.

I can't figure how to select the orange version in the Pn-Pn theme, and the Moutain Orange theme isn't working at all (just goes back to the default).

I have got the PnPN working in orange now.  Yay!  Although curiousity has gotten the best of me as to why the Mountain Orange won't work.  Here's the link: http://themes.simplemachines.org/index.php?lemma=79

hmm I agree but all graphics are there and style.css is corect and dso is linking code curious

Set the Mountain orange as default and go to current themes  it should be Mountain Orange check each of the paths they link to default and not Mountain orange.
