Migration Problem - Forum crashes

SMF Version: SMF 1.0.1
Hey,

I am trying to move my SMF installation from one server to another.  I have moved all the public files as well as imported the SQL files.  I consider myself to be fairly knowledgable and am miffed at why 2 things are happening on the new installation:

1) No matter what I click on whether I log in or click on a button i get a 404 error.

2) I had modified the index.template page for my custom theme and when I go to the new installation, the modifications that I had made do not show up.

I am still on version 1.0 RC2 - I never upgraded because I have never had any issues.  Anyway if someone can shed any light on what my problem might be I would appreciate it..... just don't call me son.

every click results in a blank page. perhaps your paths are a little askew?
have you tried reapair_settings.php? just a thought.

I looked closely at what was happening and I realised I didn't have my virtual host and the settings.php file config correctly...........

1.0 RC2 is a very old version, you should upgrade because even if you haven't had any issues, you are far more likely to with an not-up-to-date forum than a SMF 1.0.7 forum.
