Unable to connect to FTP server with this combination of details

That was the message I got when I wen to the http://yourserver.shb/smf/install.php. I tried to chmod the servers, but when I went back to install.php, i got the FTP Connection Information. Does anyone know how i can solve this?

Double-check that everything is chmodded as specified in the Installation Guide. The error message that you got means SMF couldn't connect to the FTP server with the information you supplied - make sure everything is correct (ftp server, username, password and path).
