Even simpler login page???

Hi -

I am building a family website using SMF 1.1 RC2 (It Rocks!) and hopefully real soon Gallery2.  I have created custom headers for different themes that relate to our family.  However, I have one of those relatives that thinks people will use the custom images for no good.   

I need to know if there is a way to make the login page even simpler.  Meaning how would I go about leaving the header image off the login page and then once the user has logged in the header re-appears? Also, how do I keep the "Latest Member" info off of the login page?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
