remove the display of group in posts?

Set yourself in the admin group as a secondary group instead of your primary group.

When I click save, it asks if I want to remove my admin status. I don't want anybody's group to show in the posts. I'm trying to stay anonymous since I'm donating the site

if you don't want ANY groups showing in the posts, then you can edit display.template.php in your SMF theme directory and just remove the call that displays the group.
