Forum Size Ability?

I swear I've asked this before, but cant find my post.  Has anyone done any kind of forum capability tests?  What I'm after is information on how well SMF can handle large forums to the tune of several thousand posts without modification and what kind of tole it takes on a server.

SMF can handle big forum very well. Look here for some examples. You won't be able to get by shared hosting with a very large forum however, just like any other software.

LOL...    on 40konline we have some 24,000 members and well over 1.3 million posts, at this point...
