Alright i went and reinstalled SMF and went to upgrade to 1.1RC2 and i am still getting the copyright error,

" Sorry, the copyright must be in the template.
Please notify this forum's administrator that this site is using an ILLEGAL copy of SMF! "

Followed every upgrade instruction to the T and am still getting this error....and to say the least its growing old -lol- any help greatly apreciated.

(anyone else have this problem anytime?)

i am wondering if it has anything to do with the joomla
you have wrapped around it?
keep smiling, they'll always wonder what your up too.....

The error is because you are using an old template not compatible with 1.1 RC2.

I recommend you contact the theme author and ask them if they are going to upgrade their theme

just noticed guests get a DB error although im 95% sure thats becuase of joomla, but i dont see the error once i log in to the forums so i dont know....

I'd say that you should check index.template.php for ', theme_copyright(), ' and if its not there, put it in somewhere.

Make sure everything got uploaded properly - I get a database error (just the genering "Please try again..." message) when I try to go there as well. What errors do you have in your error log?

i had this same exact problem... it is nothing that a backup/ reinstall wont fix... but dont install 107 then upgrade to rc2... doesnt work so well it seems.. just install rc 2.. since you have already upgraded before all your database files should be compat with rc2 now... there are just a few path issues in the upgrade... running the repair_settings.php right after reinstalling and restoring backup database works wonders... no more problems.. eccept the ones that come native to rc2.. :P i wish i had written down all the paths that were wrong.. i could submit them here... oops... maybe you could... that way they can fix it if its a bug..

hope this helps,
danny

Many people have upgraded from 1.0.7 > 1.1 RC2.

If you think you have found a bug please post it in SMF Coding Discussion although this is most likely to be an isolated problem

not quite a bug... i have run into four or five people who have had this EXACT problem on this forum... but it does not seem to be a problem with the install or upgrade per say only a problem with the cercumstances and such surrounding it... it's a user error but the fix is there in the repair settings php ... it fixes most path problems that seem to be causing the errors.. your the specialist though... i was just lending a hand cause you guys were busy and i have run into this problem a few times.

sorry,
danny

The only experience I've had with that is when we upgraded from RC1 to RC2, while we were uploading the files the copyright errors appeared and when we finished it, it was all dandy.
