SMF Version: SMF 1.0.7
I need a mod that will make the age field MANDATORY.  According to US law it is illegal to collect information on children under the age of 13.  I want to make the age field mandatory for registration as I'm getting a few kids who come to my board and register (I am also getting those adults who can't read the IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR AGE SPECIFIED THE ACCOUNT WILL BE DELETED that is in big red letters on the registration page).

Any help out there?  thanks...

Nor

you could just enable the age requirement (registration --- settings)
If it aint broke, break it.

Unless it's hidden somewhere... that's not in my Admin Panel.  I've looked everywhere in the Admin panel and have found nothing that will make age mandatory for registration.   I have..

I think COPPA is in the SMF 1.1 RC2. There might be a mod for SMF 1.0.7 but not sure.

Now... would said mod work with the mixture of files I have in my installation?

That's more what I'm worried about than anything.

i use RC2 so i dont know about other versions, but you could just upgrade.

Considering this is a active board, I'm not willing to upgrade to just a Release Candidate.  Call me cautious, but I'd have about 2000 people who'd go through withdrawls seriously if I did that (and something went wrong.)

Thanks

Call me cautious

No worries Cautious ;)

With the mismatch of files wouldn't it be better to be on a full release? Why not set up a dev environment and populate with your current forum, then you can test a release and see how you go, from there

vbgamer45

If you are ussing the default register.template.php then I can create a mod for 1.0.7 for that.

Thanks!

How would I be able to determine if the register.template.php was default?  We DO have the age field on the register page but it's not mandatory.  You can register without entering anything.

my forum is http://www.mythbustersfanclub.com/forum/index.php [nofollow]

again, thanks

Hmm it seems like you did some of the work already.
All you have to do is in the sources folder for Register.php
Is check if the fields were entered if not raise an error and maybe some date range checking.

How about I send you that file (zipped of course) - I run the board, I know nothing of PHP... granted I knew enough about Perl to troubleshoot YaBB... but PHP has got me stumped.  I WILL be taking something to get my working knowledge of it up... soon...

nothing wrong with cautious. I've upgraded a few from 1.05/7 to RC2 and two of them have 2500 members and growing, went off without a hitch. RC2 may be a release canidate but its very stable.
