The last week there have been some issues here as most people know.
I'm one of the staff members on TinyPortal, and there were several questions from our members where they could get hold of SMF forum install package.
I have one I downloaded from here, and sended it up in my forum for the users that needed to have a copy so they could download it.

Now I want to know if it was OK for me to do so, and if I'm allowed to put it in my download section on my portal? If not i will remove it from the forum, but if it is OK for me to share the SMF package i will move it to my download section.

The site i have the file in is here

No, sorry but you are not allowed to distribute SMF, any part of it, or any modified version of it.

SMF can be found at simplemachinesforum.org in a case this site is down.

Ok, I will remove it :)

Just for a note, i just put it up for download as you have it here, no fees or anything for benefit or make any money from it.

Yes, I know your innocent intention but... that's the rule :)

Just read through that licens. Kind of gave the opposit answer i guess  ???

Lainaa1. Permission is hereby granted to use, copy, modify and/or distribute this
Package, provided that:
   a. All copyright notices within source files and as generated by the
Software as output are retained, unchanged.

Im from Sweden so my "faq" English language skills arent all that good though, But from that text i get it like it is OK as long as the copywrite is unchanged.

But as i said, you must know this better than me :)

All "a,b,c,d" sections should be satisfied. Section a is OK if you don't alter the copyright, but you don't have written permission from Lewis Media as mentioned by section "d".
