Is there a way to show users IP's to Global Moderators but not the Global Moderators IP to each other? I want to keep the identity of the Moderators private.

sanax

Anyone has an idea how this can be done?

gamesmad

Its not possible in a default install, you would have to modify a lot of the permissions code to do it.

Thank you, and if I make these changes to moderators and not global moderators? Will that be easier?

If this were done, I would tend to think they'd say "whoa, i can't see this other person's IP, they must be a moderator"

My issue is that I don't want to let one mod knows who the other mod is... but if they can see each others IP they'll know who the mods are... I want to prevent that so that every mod's status will be a secret...

:(

Indeed.  I see where you're coming from. :P I used to do similar.  At one point I had a modification that allowed mods to post as another designated user (ie, "moderator") instead of posting their mod activities as their own accounts.  I'm not sure if i still have it laying around... but if you stopped it from passing the IP address or passed a false IP itd probably work out.

I'm just saying... if a mod comes across a member who's IP's they cannot see, then they're going to start wondering... i'd think eventually someone would figure it out.  I mean, i'm sure it could be done... but I dont think in the long run it'd work exactly as planned.

I'll see if i can locate it.
