1.1.5 and bug fix - small notify issue still there

First of all, a huge thanks for this updated bridge....so far everything is running well and I have applied the appropriate bug fix to resolve the notify issue.

However there was one small issue that the notify fix didn't resolve in 1.1.4 and it can be seen here (in the thread that started the whole discussion)....
http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=92470.msg608020#msg608020

The notifications are working, but the "#new" still appears to missing from them?

I'm now on Joomla 1.0.10 if that is of any importance.

Cheers,

Phil

Hi, Ostrio say that problem is caused by 1 on 1000 web servers configurations, but I showing much other ppl have that same problem too me.

Orstio

Yes, the same people that had this problem with 1.1.4 will also have it with 1.1.5. (phil_roy, Massiello, and jocke4u)

phil_roy

Sorry, I'm not trying to be rude and am grateful with the help and superb support, but this is where our last thread ended...mentioning the "#new" issue, but there being no subsequent response.

I just want to clarify...is it simply an issue that can't be resolved in any way? I'm just slightly stumped to how most of the issue apppears to be resolved with the bug fix except the end of the line?

If it is simply something that we need to live with, then I guess that is that.

I'm hoping that the fix Compuart did with UTF-8 will also fix this issue.  We'll see in the next release of SMF.

This is a great notice

phil_roy: Where did you download your Recent Topics module?

phil_roy

Joomlahacks. Is that OK? Last time I tried a recent post mod that came with the bridge here I couldn't get it to display as simply as I wanted it to. Not in trouble am I? Also, if it may have impacted on any of the issues that are dicussed in this thread I apologise in advance.

And there we have it -- the common element.  Please remove that module, and use the one that is distributed from here for use with the bridge from here.  Then you can replace your smf.php with the one that comes default with bridge 1.1.5, and your notify URLs should work fine.

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=81152.msg541423#msg541423

QuoteI use it too and works great

Yes, it breaks your notification emails just wonderfully.

gasg

Nope, the mail notification as the first that I have installed it (I think) hehe  :-*

gasg

Yes I'm here to download unshowing Modules made my you and Kindred, I prefer all from one author, THE BEST...

phil_roy

QuoteAnd there we have it -- the common element.
Yep...the moment Masiello posted his comment I went bright red and thought "Oh god...that's what the issue is".

Orstio, in some respects we've tracked down a bug that might occur for others, but in many cases we've probably also taken up an unnecessary amount of your time and I apologise for that. I'd suggest possibly (if it's not there already) revising the Read Me's to stress that modules from other bridges cause issues that may seem unrelated (I would never have associated the notify bug with the module at all), thereby encouraging users not to 'mix and match'.

Off to install the right module and see how I get on.  :)

Hey Ostrio, is possibile to get last post to scroll, I have some problem with my modules

gasg

I have made the changes, removing the modules from joomlahacks and installed youurs, but the notify issue is the same after replace the smf.php from the new Bridge 1.1.5

New posts on your forum index look like this:

http://www.lottosqueeze.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,82/topic,190.msg771/,#new

It should look like this:

http://www.lottosqueeze.org/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,82/topic,190.msg771#new

This is an indication of one of two things:

1) You have OpenSEF installed.

2) You need to go to PhpMyAdmin, and perform this query in your SMF database:

INSERT INTO smf_settings
   (variable, value)
VALUES ('disableQuotedPrintable', '1');

gasg

I've running that query the some time a go, and I dont using OpenSEF
look at www.lottosqueeze.org
Thanks for your help

gasg

Ostrio, have you received the account? Now testing it and work as a super administrator, good work and thank you so much

phil_roy

I see why I went with the Joomlahacks mod...the layout of the recent topics mod from this site is so huge it goes off the right off my front page right-hand column....and I can't see any way to remove aspects I don't want displayed (forum section, username etc). I've done a seacrh about modifying the output but the only posts I found said vague things like "copy the SSI code and modify the code" or in other posts that it can't be done??

QuoteOstrio, have you received the account? Now testing it and work as a super administrator, good work and thank you so much

I don't know what you have installed that is modifying the SEF that way....but it seems that the lines I've added to make sure that single elements in the URL have absolutely no effect....

gasg

I dont Know, But I know that problem is made too on a fresh Joomla instalation with SEO enabled and SMF installed with the Bridge

gasg

Anyway Thank you again for waste your time to help me, I believe you fix it in the next release

Orstio

It should be working now on your site, Masiello.

gasg

Oh this is a great notice, but only me reveiced the notified in that mode? Now have tested again and this is the result:

hey phil_roy you have fixed this issue on your site?

phil_roy

No, I haven't even tried.....if I can't get the recent topics module to display without stretching right off the edge of my site, then I'll stick with the joomlahacks module and the email notification error. I just wish I could track down some detail on how to customise the output of the module that comes from this site.

I'm also not rushing to do everything else as I'm busy reading the problems you're having  ;D

Phil

For your module problem try to use the ostrio module and in option try Flat visual or one Column

phil_roy

gasg

In the module option you don't see "Flat List" in Display Type?
Below the parameters voice

phil_roy

No. there were no parameters. I had to add code in to the xml file to be able to apply a display class suffix...there are no other options.

Phil

QuoteVery strange because I have the same and have that parameter

Not strange at all, considering you had not uninstalled the joomlahacks module.  ::)

gasg

Nope, I have reinstalled it (joomhacks mod) after the notify problem don't fixed, but in your module on the recent post I have that parameter already

gasg

Access in to my joomla portal and go in module "Post recenti del forum" as your module and show yourself :)

gasg

#46
I'm talking about the recent post that I suppose need phil_roy, not on the recent topic module they have that params
The recent Topic module loosks bad too on my portal module as right or left position

phil_roy

I'm not using recent posts....I'm using recent topics. Recent posts tends to list the same thread if there are a few replies in sucession. I just want the most recent 10 topics listed. The smf recent topics module doesn't have paramters you mention.

Phil
http://www.nzmac.com

gasg

I'm sorry, I have problem too with the module that you say, it looks very bad on the right or left position.

gasg

I found a solution for this issue, Just replacing the sef.php file with the old sef.php that is in the Joomla 1.0.8 package and it works like a charm.
I dont granted the same rank that using a sef.php of Joomla 1.0.10 package, but it solved temporary that problem for who need forum Notify enabled.

Orstio...I know this discussion is effectively "closed", as you pointed out to us all that we're using a module from another bridge....but some of us are still choosing to use that module because it allows for better manipulation of how posts are displayed. I've also got a colleague who appears (although this needs to be confirmed) who has the notification issue and seems to be using no Joomlahacks components.

The problems is (for both of us) is that you kindly posted a fix for people like us in the Bugs area, but then removed it as it obviously wasn't something everyone needed....but there's nowhere on the forums that this fix is now listed.

I know it's asking a bit much to solve a situation you feel we should best avoid...but is there any chance you could post that "fix" again so I can pass the info on to my colleague?

Thanks in advance.

Changing Bridge or Board and enough.
Or running all stand alone, it is the best solution, now how that, it sucks.
