Turn signatures on/off?

Now this might sound like a really dumb question, but how is it possible to turn signatures on or off?

I've seen signatures before on my board - now for some reason they don't show up anymore, and this is the case at all other users as well. Is there a way actually to turn this on or off? I haven't found anything in this regard. The signature also shows in the profile BTW. Is it handled automatically and could it be turned off by a theme? Or am I just blind?

Yeah, its possible to turn them on and off,

Profile > Look and Layout Preferences > Don't show other users' signatures.

And It can also be handled by the theme too:

Admin > Themes and Layout > Reset Options > [Theme] > Reset all member's current options for this theme > Don't show other users' signatures.

Where [Theme] is your theme.

I enabled signatures for a certain membergroup and I like that better than just disabling it.

Hmmm... Problem is:

Profile > Look and Layout Preferences > Don't show other users' signatures

This checkbox is not ticked for example at my own Admin account. Still I don't see any signatures - not mine, nor of anyone else.

I also don't find signature handling at the Permissions or at the Membergroups...

Where precisely is this signature thingy in the Permissions/Membergroups? There are lots of settings there, but nothing mentions "signatures"...

I'm using SMF 1.1 RC2 - maybe there's a bug somewhere?

There's not a signature options in the Permissions/Membergroups...

What I did was edit the Profile.template.php file and only enable signatures to be changed if you are a certain membergroup.
