SMF Version: SMF 1.1 RC2
Hi I have installed SMF on a dual 500 p3 with 1GB ram on 2 x raid 5's 1 for OS 1 for the SMF forum. I am running Ubuntu dapper with 2.6.15.26 686 kernel. I have a IPCOP firewall with port 80 open to the server on the local LAN (will move to DMZ when live) my external address is 165.228.70.196 I have a temporary index.HTML that diverts to the forum def php

My problem up till today I was able to render proper imaging on my local LAN but text only on the Net, now after changing my smflogo.gif to a picture of our clubs logo it now only renders text based on the LAN as well:(

I reverted back to the original & still have the problem. Everytime I make a change I get this problem but this time I can't fix. Does anyone have a fix for my problems?

As he said his forum is located at 165.228.70.196 or http://165.228.70.196/

I gave up waiting for it to load... My guess is there is something very wrong with the OS, Webserver or database configuration on that box.

The wierd thing is localy it is fast! Is there any configuration changes needed for a nat'ed setup? when looking from external it resolves in the firefox taskbar at bottom as internal address 192.168.0.226!

BTW I'm using std forum template.

I've noticed people who set this up on local machines often have this issue.
The reason i think would be causing this is...
When you are on your local machine, the links you want will all be something like http://localhost/... or http://192.168.... which are all local links and will work great for you, but not for anyone else.
What you need to do is set all those links to http://yourip so that all the images and what not are linked properly and will look good on the outside. it may or may not look good on the local host, but who cares about that. Whats the purpose of a forum if only you can surf it. you will have to just surf the site from an external computer.

As jerm said,

It is likely because the forum URLs are specified as an intenal IP or internal name, and not something you can access on the outside. Links to images, stylesheet, etc are generated with the forum URL in the config. If using an inside-only name, you'll notice these issues.
