Hey, so I run a small gaming website over hxxp:www.ixlegion.net [nonactive]. I've been trying to start up a new single forum to replace what's at the site now (can be found at http:/hxxp:www.ixlegion.net/forum [nonactive]) but this is the first install i've done of 2.0.3, adn I keep encountering the same error.

What at first I thought was a portal bug is turning out to be a major problem. Roughly half an hour to an hour after installing and modifying the forums I keep running into a brick wall, where I will post say something with, for example, 1500 characters. It will post up to a certain point (like 450-500) but then just cuts it off. When I go to edit it, all the information after a certain point is gone, despite it having bee nthere when i clicked post 5 minutes earlier.

I tried multiple portals and multiple skins but i keep getting the same problem... if it were the portal how would I go about fixing it?

Thanks for any help I can get
Kind regards, Rhys

Actually, there IS a "Maximum allowed post size", in Admin>Posts and topics.

If you set that to zero, it'll be unlimited.

Tried that. The default is 20,000 anyways, and it's cutting off (as previously mentioned) at what seems to be roughly 450-500.

I'm now thinking it may be a compatibility issue between the dzinerstudio skins and smf 2.0.3.. or maybe just the portals.. I don't even know, All I know is it's getting increasingly frustrating and I can't produce any answers.

Please help?

Bit of "Trial-and-error", to figure this one out, methinks...

Have you tried disabling the portals, totally, to see what happens?

Hi, you're obviously not typing all of that into the reply box. What is the source of what you are inputting? Word document, another site, etc.

Does this happen in all browsers.

Does it happen here? There is a test board here you can use to check that.

If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer. If that fails, read the manual.

No, I'll type a thousand or so words in a news post and then have it cut off. Even when I after that try to modify and re-type or copy-oaste it in again, it still does it. It will work in the preview, but as soon as it's posted it changes.

I think I've found it, it may be a modification of the Stars and Badges mod that is doing this. I've attached the file I'm using, but other people have been able to get it to work on their own 2.0.2 forums.. any suggestions as to why might my forums aren't compatible?

The reason I was confused about the origin was because the problem persists after uninstallation of the mod. My apologies for any inconvenience this may have cause people.

please dont attach mod packages to your posts unless you have permission from the author to distribute the mod. the attachment has been removed.

Wondering if this problem has been solved?

Many of my forum members are reporting the same problem. They will copy and paste chunks of text from another forum post, PDF files, Word Docs etc.

After they hit the post button the majority of the post has been cut off. To me it seemed like maybe it was truncating after a special character but I have not been able to figure it out.

I do not have the stars and badges mod.

Actually upon further testing it does seem to be related to special characters. So far I noticed that single and double quotes ie: ' and " can cause the truncation. I suspect certain dashes could also cause it. When typing the quotes into a post all is fine, but when copying them from another source they are not fine. This is a problem I also see often when pasting copy into html, generally I manually replace the special quote with a regular quote.

I should also mention that Preview works just fine. So I'm wondering if a function can be modified to replace special quotes with regular quotes, perhaps at the time of database submission?
