I just put up a new site I am webmastering and installed SMF RC1 new install for the forum.

All went well and seems to be working fine but a few admin functions . . . . .

1 & 2 are when I click on the admin functions under Forum Configuration for,

Current Theme's Settings
and
Theme and Layout Settings

I get this Error screen :
---------------------------------------------------
An Error Has Occurred!
Unable to load the 'Themes' template.
---------------------------------------------------

I get the same error on both the above selections.

Also these functions don't work:
Reply, Quote, or add a thread & Add a Poll, I get the error as above but it say
"Unable to load the template"

3 This is the biggie, I cannot logout as Admin,
so I can try to make a regular user account.

Because the system will not let me logoff as ADMIN!

Any INPUT on these problems will sure help . . . . .   ;)

Are you sure all the files got uploaded? Try re-uploading the templates and see if that helps...

Killer Possum

Or just to be sure, upload everything again just incase other files go messed up as well. Also make sure your FTP client is set to automatically choose Binary or ASCII

OK I re-uploaded the Templates and now I have items 1 & 2 mentioned above working.

But the BIGGIE! now is that I still can not logOff as Admin and log in as a new regular member.

I was able to use the Admin capability to go in and Add a user of a normal user so I could log in to that account as a regular user, BUT! "I" can't logout as admin to go to that account.

I click the Logout Button and the browser spins for about 2 1/2 sec. and it still is sitting at the same screen and has me still logged in as Admin and won't release me from that account to a guest user so I can then log in on my regular user account . . . . .  ??????

(Note) : Also it still shows only the Logout Button, it never switches the button over to the Login button.

HELP!!!!!! Any Ideas other than maybe a fresh install again and start all over?   ;)

Since this is a New Install and I will not lose anything by starting out from scratch.

But I wanted to point this out and see if maybe some others have had this problem, or if it is just spacific to me and my system and ISP maybe   8)

OK here is where I am now!

I totally uploaded all files and the install.php again.

Then ran the install.php again.

All went well but still I can not click on the Logout button and it log me off as Admin and show me as Guest so I can try to log in with a new account setup as a regular user still !?!?

Is this something new in the Full install of SMF 1.0 RC1 ?

As I have a test copy of SMF that I have had up for about 3 months also, that was a Beta5 version that I updated to the RC1 version and I still can logoff as admin and be a guest and then log in as a user on that setup.

But for the life of things I can't get this New Install from the new release of RC1 to let me do that.   :o

reznorsoft

do you, by any chance, have global cookies turned on?
if so .. try turning them off ... Admin Center >> Edit Features and Options >> Use subdomain independent cookies
try unchecking this if it is already checked .. it might work

Snuffy

reznorsoft  I did not have that checked, and as the help states :

Allows for the use of subdomain independent cookies. For example, if...
Your site is at http://www.simplemachines.org/,
And your forum is at http://forum.simplemachines.org/,
Using this modification will allow you to access the forum's cookie on your site.

As my Site and Forum are the same . . .  So this did not make any diff, I even turned it on and tried and that did not make any diff and turned it back off. . . . . .     :(

STILL LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER . . . . . . .   ???   8)    ???

Here is the best I can do right now -[Unknown]-, a link to the forum:

http://www.tapcug.org/smf/index.php

As I don't have any Test Accounts on there, since I can't logout of Admin to make any.
But maybe you can get in as a regular user with the addy above . .

But here is one I'll setup from within the Admin Register a User . . . .

I used the E-mail the user to send the info to you, let me know if you did not get it.

It IS with Admin level so you can see if you can logout as well . . . .
let me know how it works for you to....

You can actually create a new user in the admin area while logged in as admin.

Registration Management > Register new member

With the username and password "test", I logged in and then logged out successfully.

Please try clearing your cookies.

Well I should have thought of that I guess! Daaaaaaa!

As it worked and I got in and was able to make a REG user account,
BUT! it will not let me log in as Admin so Now that we got the cookies fingered out I will just run the Install.php again and see if we can get in with admin and back out,
and then make this work finally.

Thanks once again Unknown for your help . . .    ;)

I'll be back of we have any more problems with this copy.

Then I have one more to try and that will be converting my YaBB-SE over to RC1

XXXXXX   <-------  Fingers crossed!
