I presume that you are trying to install smf? Anyway, it seems that the mysql info that you have filled are not corrrect. When you created the mysql database and user at the CP of your host, did you give this user full access and permission to the database?
If you did, and you think that you filled in the right mysql info, then I suggest that you contact your host and ask them to give you the db info, so you can double check them with the ones that you filled in when you got the error

shinwa

okie. i tried to do it again.
now. i already created MySQL database on my host.
but try to install SMF again. but it show this

QuoteThe installer was unable to access the "smf" database. With some hosts, you have to create the database in your administration panel before SMF can use it. Some also add prefixes - like your username - to your database names.

exactly, this host can use with MySQL and SMF.

Try with the combination of account name and database name and user. For example, if your account login has the username shinwa and the database you created is called smf, then it may have been created as shinwa_smf -- try that.

Same thing with the database user. If you named it, say, shinwa, it might have been created as shinwa_shinwa. For more information, see what your account's control panel tells you in the MySQL/databases section.

Also, you need to assign database priviledges to the database user. Usually, assigning all priviledges works. Check the Online Manual for more info: Server Requirements

Are you using cPanel?

I'm after the same thing. How do I create this database thing. The MyQSL database is confusing. ANy step by step guide like what info to put in each field? also, I've installed SMF 2 beta 3 and in the database settings section, it just has a simple MYQSL and SQLite menu. I chose QSLite and it worked fine. WHat do you do with SMF 1.1.4 as this is the one I need.

Did you create a blank MySQL database from your webhost? You must create a blank one and then assign a username and password with all privileges. Then perform the SMF install with the database information you just created.
