Several months ago, I installed Harro's "Attachments Layout" mod, which worked fine...until I upgraded to the newest version of SMF. Then suddenly I got a notice that that mod (and two others) are installed, but there is no uninstaller.

Unfortunately, the mod is no longer working, either. The attachments have gone back to just being listed in one attachment pane--pictures and files, with pictures first, then files. The mod made it so that pictures were in one pane, and files were in another pane.

So...I came here to the customize area and saw that there was an upgrade for the 1.1 version I was using, to the 1.2 version.

I thought to myself that if I just installed over the other version, it might just upgrade, so I tried it. Nope! It says that I already have the mod installed, and that in order to install the newer version, I must DELETE THE OLD FILES.

"OK," I thought, "I DO have that option. It says I can't uninstall, but it DOES give me a DELETE option."

So I proceeded to do just that...delte the earlier version files.

Then I tried again to install the 1.2 version. Nope! It still says that the 1.1 version is installed, and now it says that I'll have to uninstall that version before installing the new version. But I can't!

I'm frustrated!

In the Packages area of my forum, it tells me that if a package doesn't have an uninstaller present, I should ask the writer of the mod.

Well...I would...but Harro's member info specifically says NOT to ask him for support! So here I am.

Now here's another weird thing. I just went to look at the installed packages, and guess what? It NOW says that 1.1 is in an "unknown" category, and that 1.2 IS uninstalled, but that it doesn't have an uninstaller.

Whaaattt???!!! I'm totally lost here. Someone please help.

Tick

you will have to manually uninstall the mods from you forum. Get a copy of the old mod that you had and run it through the mod parser here and it will tell you all the edits to make to remove this mod.

OK...I did as you suggested, and here are the results (see attachment).

Now what?

Dragoon--I'm totally new to all of this stuff. Could you please explain your answer in a step-by-step manner telling me what to open, where it's located, etc.?

BlackMage--I just went through the package manager and updated when it said one was available.

go to admin => Packages

In the URL in the address bar, add ;version_emulate=1.1.3 to the end of it, and go to that address.

Thank you, BlackMage. Now I understand, and it worked perfectly.

Unfortunately, even when uninstalled and then the 1.2 version installed correctly, I can't find anywhere to set the attachments layout to show two panes any longer...frustration.

Thanks again for your help, though.

Update--I just discovered that Harro has uploaded a version made for 1.1.4, so now I have used your earlier directions to uninstall his 1.2 version of the Attachments Layout mod, and installed his 1.3 version.

It no longer works with a split pane, BUT...it does now delineate IMAGE FILES (first), then OTHER ATTACHED FILES (second).

Hooray! :-)

Only just saw this thread...
So is it working correctly now?
If not drop me a PM (you are allowed to do it ;) ) and i'll try to fix it for you.

Thanks, Harro, for the updated mod. All is fine, now, with no further problems. ;-)
