Quick update,
I changed the two instances of the code and still dont get the menu showing as logged in, plus also get the following error:

8: Undefined variable: username
File: /home/jtips/public_html/forum/Sources/MOS_SMF.php
Line: 477

Orstio

Yeah, looks like you're right.  The variable $username isn't used in that logout function.

This will have to wait for 3.20.

Q: After upgrading to Joomla/Mambo 4.5.3, SMF recognizes my login/out but Joomla/Mambo does not.

A:  Replace your MOS_SMF.php with the one attached here (SMF 1.1beta3 and up only!).

lomu

well i have integrated  smf_1-1-rc1 with Joomla_1.0.4 using MOS_SMF_BRIDGEv3[1].19a_SMF1.1b3 and when i tried to login (or logout) from the joomla portal i have this issue on the forum: "It was not able to load 'main' template" (i've translate this from spanish to english...  :-[ :-[ :-[ :-[)

If you go to your SMF Sources directory, you will notice that the file named MOS_SMF.php has a size of 0 bytes.

You will need to upload MOS_SMF.php manually.  Use the one attached to my previous post. ;)

now all runs well.

thank you very much  :D :D :D :D :D

Mambo - Joomla - SMF Bridge - Fantastico

Fantastico spoilt me!

Just wondering if there are any plans to add the bridge as an option during a Fantastico install ???

  • I can't recall a support request since switching to a host that offered Fantastico
  • I know you can't control the scripts that Fantastico uses so an option after the fact would be GR8
  • Maybe a guided setup from the SMF Admin panel/package manager...

I cracked myself up when I started a rant after someone dissed SMF in the Joomla forums...
The Joomla forums are using SMF   :P
Ya, I'm OK....

Orstio

As soon as SMF 1.1 RC2 is released, the bridge for that is going to be as easy as:

  • install (only one step) :D
  • configure main component
  • configure registration component
  • configure login module

I'm not sure Fantastico can make that any easier.  ;)

hello

Unwrapped SMF 1.1 RC1 with Joomla! 1.0.4 Stable.... everything goes well, that's a very cool and serious bridge! Waiting for the next release.... :)
here is the question:

Q: Is there a way not to redirect users that log on the site's index page to the index of the forum. The ideal thing would be, maybe not possible at this time, but... If a user logs in on the site's index, he stays there. If he logs on the forum's index, he stays there...

A: Set these options in the login module.  There are options for redirecting to the front of the forum, the front of the web site, or return the user to where they came from.

dogood

well I would like to, but there's nothing about thatin the configuration area of the module. I'm using Orstio's V3.19 bridge...

Thanks!

Go to your Joomla admin panel.  Go to the Modules Menu.  Click on Site Modules.

Find the mod_smf_login module in the list.  It might not be on the first page.  When you find it, click on it.

There are numerous parameters to edit here, including two radio button selections:

Login Redirection URL:
Logout Redirection URL:

thanks a lot Orstio!!

now I get problems with permissions. When an editor logs out, as the site displays the login form showing no user logged in, the "edit" buttons still appear near the content items...
maybe this concerns best joomla people...don't know

bye and thanks again!!

Sounds like it's not getting logged out of Joomla.  Did you upload the file posted above?

dogood

hello,

well, I uploaded the Mos-SMF.php file posted above, and everything seems to go better! the only thing is when a user logs in the forum or the site, in the admin interface I don't see him or her immediatly. I was wondering if this behaviour might be due to the fact I'm testing everything on the same PC, and there are maybe cookies getting confused...I don't know.

thanks for the help and great job with this bridge.

merry christmas to all!!

Probably.  If your problem continues, please start a new topic with it.

Hi Orstio! Your bridge is marvelous! I hade the chance to try it and it worked perfectly, but I had the stupid idea to uninstall the bridge on SMF (just because I thought that some other bridge wouldn´t install because of it) and I thought it would be easy to reinstall it... Well, no.
I got this error on the installation:
1.     Execute Modification     ./Sources/Subs.php     Test failed

So I decided to do it "by hand" and it looked like it thing that is working is that I can have the latest posts and is possible to login with the smf-login  on the portal, but the users does not migrate to the portal... They don´t login to mambo :(
I have SMF RC1  and Mambo patched.
Thanks for any help!

I did install your component and it worked marvelously, but than I wanted to install another mod on the forum and thought that it didn´t work because of the bridge.
Than I uninstalled and deleted the bridge, When I tryed to reinstall it I got some errors

Kindred

when you did it by hand, did you also apply the changes to smf's index.php?
and upload mos-smf.php into your smf/Sources directory by hand as well?

Please do not PM, IM or Email me with support questions.  You will get better and faster responses in the support boards.  Thank you.

Yes I did...
I am the only one who made the Community builder profile, so I guess that is why I am the only one able to logg into the portal :(
Is there a way to restart everything without getting into troubles with the database?
