Hi there. Early on Christmas day, our forum suddenly stopped working. Now, whenever you access the main page, you get a blank page.

No changes have been made which could have caused this.

The oddest thing is, that on another forum (Which is very similar to the other forum, but is slightly older (You could say it's an old back-up) also stopped working.

Fresh installations of SMF work, as well as other softwares, but only our main forum seems to have this issue (And the back-up).

We can access any page but the main page (Which would suggest something is wrong with index.php, but this would be very odd, since both forums aren't working - and stopped working at the same time), however,

Update: Problem solved! I managed to track the problem down. It was the calander for some reason. I'm guessing it was related to something being displayed in new year.

Hi TfMf.

How did you track the problem down to the calender & what did you do to rectify this!
I am very similar problems to those experienced by yourself & as yet haven't found a solution!

Thanks TFMF for taking the time to follow up with your soution!
It seems my problem was exactly the same as yours!
Now after disabling the calender it's resolved!

We just need to find a fix for the calender problem now!

TFMF

Indeed, I simply disabled the calendar. Well actually, I realised that anything on the calander displaying on the board index relating to 2008 caused something to go wrong. I'm not sure why this happens, but disabling, or restricting the calander so it displays items before January 1st seems to fix this problem.

I'm hoping that after December is over, this problem won't be an issue anymore.

Anyone know where this option can be disabled in the actual forum files?  I can't login now as admin due to clearing cache while trying to solve this problem so am stuck!

Have you tried getting into admin by using the address bar rather than the menu buttons?
One of the support staff at TP put me onto this trick when I locked myself out of admin recently.
If you enter this in the address bar:

http://www.yourforum.org/index.php?action=admin

and hit "go to" it'll take you into the admin centre.

Just a quick update, the problem no longer occurs. It was definitely something caused by the 2007/2008 cross-over (Well, I don't really know, but the problem no longer occurs once we hit 2008).
