Are you having problems posting in Chinese? Did you try to convert the forum to UTF-8? To do this, go to Admin->Forum Maintenance and the last option there should be to convert to UTF-8.

You might also want to get the Chinese Language Pack and extract all the contents to the /Themes folder. You can then change the forum language by going to Admin->Server Settings and setting the default language.

Thanks for replying greyknight. I did try converting the forum to UTF-8.
What do you mean by setting the default language. I set it to english-UTF-8.
I want an english site but with the option to type in chinese characters too.

greyknight17

You should be ok using UTF-8 then. Were you able to convert it successfully to UTF-8? That should allow you to type in the Chinese characters now if it was giving problems earlier.

flexon

I am able to convert it to ut8 but its nnot working yet :'(

greyknight17

Are you able to type in Chinese in other forums like here and have them show up? That usually does the job.

Does it show up if you just preview the post?

hi, I still have problems fixing it.

When I Go to 'Forum Maintenance'  and click  'Convert the database and data to UTF-8'
the whole process took only a second for it to be 100%. Is there a problem with it? Is there anything I need to do first before the converting process?

regarding this

DELETE FROM `smf_settings` WHERE `variable` = 'global_character_set' LIMIT 1;

Where can I find this to delete? Thank you
