It's not BRv2 theme that's your problem -- language strings??..

Run the Repair_Boards.php tool, it may help ??

If your language is set to english-utf8, change it to english (without utf8) and see if that helps.

Did you change it to english only? Go to Admin->Server Settings and verify that the forum language is english and not english-utf8.
