Before you guys tell me this isn't possible, here my train of though. or read my train of thought.

I have SMF 2.0, I change to another service (IPB, phpBB, myBB, etc) then I convert from there back to SMF 1.1.5.  TADA!!!!

Now, to what can I convert SMF 2.0 to?

Probably nothing yet. Other forum scripts do not have converting for non final products such as SMF 2.0 beta since it is a beta release and not a final release.

Yes the manual nature of the adjustments required it beyond most people.  But keeping a backup before an upgrade can help, but just making sure you want to upgrade to 2.x in the first place is the best bet.

Glad you were able to do it.  Maybe offering step by step instructions for how you did it might help others.

Well you convert from 2.0 to phpBB 3 using this:

http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=1013655

Then change from phpbb3 to smf 1.1.5 using this:

Don't forget to do the password fix.

The conversion isn't 100% perfect, because I installed a spider mod which gave me the names of a bunch of spiders, and then phpBB forum turned them into members.  Also the permissions aren't right.  There are a few other things too.  But it's good.

Oh that's a long way abut things, but thank you for sharing olabaz.
