Standalone mode

Standalone mode enables you to run wiki outside SMF install directory. It's required to enable Friendly URLS.

Provided by file "wikistandalone.php" which should be put in SMF directory for Friendly URLs and somewhere else if you want to just run outside SMF directory. (on latter case you need to edit path in file).

Example rule for .htaccess for friendly urls

Quote
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^wiki/(.*)$ wikistandalone.php?page=$1 [NC,QSA]

This was one of the most important mods for me which I wanted to see and code for SMF. And what I see from current progress is; you will no longer need any wiki bridges/integrations.

And I must note that, I haven't done anything other than a few fixes for this project yet. Though hopefully, I'll help Niko as much as I can from now. I want to thank him for letting me help with this awesome project. :)

I'm very interested in this.  One thing that becomes a barrier for forum participants is learning a new editor syntax; are you using the SMF editor for the wiki articles?

The starting demo looks good. I hope to see this project grow, its nice to see more larger projects for SMF.

Thanks Niko and Blue Dream. :)

Yes and No.

All BBC can be used but there is some additions. WYSIWYG can be also used. (SMF's built-in)

That sounds great.  My experience has been that people have a hard time with the CamelCase syntax and other text formatting ... **bold**, //italic//, etc.  But they are used to using BBCode and SMF's WYSIWYG editor.

Question: Does it allow anyone to edit the pages and keep track of the versions, allow you to roll back easily. Or it is just the wiki interface?

Thanks,

Niko do you have any release date of an alpha beta of this mod?

No.

Question: Does it allow anyone to edit the pages and keep track of the versions, allow you to roll back easily. Or it is just the wiki interface?

Thanks,

Pages can be edited by those who have permission. Yes, versions are tracked, but atm there is no rollback but it's planned.

Rollback would be awesome.

camelCasing and [bracket] support would be nice as well. Especially the ability to create pages by linking to a yet-uncreated page within an article then navigating to that location and creating it.

Wiki-style categories (added by simply putting [Category:CatName] or something in the article) would be sweet, too.

And good luck, Niko. I look forward to yet another awesome Niko mod.

I was just recently looking for wiki mods and didn't find anything that caught my interest. This looks like a great start, I look forward to following its progress!

I'll install and begin playing around with it asap. While certain factors in my life currently are leaving me with very little free time, I would love to help with some testing.

Just shows how much I've looked at it so far. Regardless, the example looks great. I see at least a few features that I've been hoping to find. I guess I'll be checking out the example further and keeping an eye out for when the mod becomes available.

Well, for those of us wanting a wiki for v. 1.1.x now, PMWiki does have an interface to use the same permissions from SMF (Auth_SMF), and can be integrated loosely that way.

Maybe something that hasn't been thought of (except by Flip), will there be a way to change what the navbar says/links to the wiki? I know you can edit the theme file to change what the navbar says, but for blind users, that's not easily possible.
We would definitely be willing to be beta testers. Of course, Flip would give you the blind/visually impaired perspective on it, and I would give you my own personal (perhaps sarcastic) view. :)
Also, when doing entries, will there be a way of linking your "article" in the wiki to a post or PM, etc? For example, Jimmy Joe Bob asked about the site's ban policy. It just so happens that I just finished posting the full policy in the wiki. Will I be able to reply to his post and say "Go look *HERE*" and *HERE* is the link to the wiki article.
Well, there goes my brain again. Time for bed.
Looks like a great mod in the making!

Thanks,
Mickey (Flip's wife)
