Some members randomly encounter errors when using this list. It works. It doesn't work. It work again. I quits working for days. etc. etc.

Some can clear their cookies to resolve the issue but for at least one person that doesn't work.

Why does this occur exactly and what is the fix? This is the primary way members find active discussions so its a pretty important issue to us.

Thanks heaps for any feedback.  :)

We are having the same issues you describe on our forum also. An explanation and/or fix for this would be much appreciated!

I installed a brand new forum today (1.1.7) and have the same problem. There's something wrong with 1.1.7 cause I never had this with older versions :S

The problem does not manifest itself as errors. It simply does not show all unread posts. The fact that so many people are having this problem and the lack of replies here indicates it's a real problem that nobody has a clue to fix.

After they click the unread posts and it shows no topic, does it show the topics if they click the link for "Click here to try all unread topics" on that same page?

The fact that there are no replies here indicates that nobody else is having the issue, and there for has not had to fix it. I do not have this issue on any of the sites I'm involved with. Please post a link to your sites as well if you can.

A search in this forum for "action=unread" and "action=unread;all" will show a history of interest in this problem.  A search on my username will retrieve  some of the topics over the past year or so.

In this thread on the Bug Fix board, SleePy has provided a small revision to Recent.php that changes the behavior of action=unread and action=unread;all so that it consistently returns unread posts for all members of a forum.  You should carefully wade through the chaff in this topic to see if SleePy's revision will work for you.  If your forum is large you should especially pay attention to SleePy's comments on server load.
