Server Maintenance

As some of you guys can tell, we are in the middle of migrating the site to another webserver.

We are in the process of moving off of our www1 server and onto our www3 server.  In the future, the www1 and www2 servers will come back online as webservers as we move to a more stable setup.

In the interim, there will be some files missing while we re-sync all of those to our fileserver.  As you might imagine this adds up to a LOT of files.  Missing files may include: avatars, attachments, mods, and Themes.  I would suggest NOT replacing missing files for now until we have the time to replace them so that we can make sure that all files are accounted for.  SMF language packages, tools, and downloads should all be working :)

In addition, there is an error in our latest-packages.xml file that we know about that may prevent the latest packages from showing up in a given SMF install's package manager.  This too will be handled ASAP.

We are working to sort it out as quickly as possible, but with the sheer volume of data to move, it is taking some time to make sure we get a proper copy across, and, as humans we need sleep as well :)  We hope to have this cleaned up sometime within the next 24 hours.

This is part of a move towards moving to a more redundant server setup.  There are more server changes to come in the near future, including ones to resolve and prevent problems like the one we had with the power supply last week.

We'll keep you guys posted :).

Thanks!

Ah, I had wondered why this site kept going down. Explains it all.

Keep up the good work ;).

The avatar files and files from our secondary attachments directory should be intact now.  Smileys should work again.  It took some time for the many gigs of data to transfer ;).

The latest-packages.js now works again too, so it won't break Admin CP functionality any longer.

Does that mean all is back to normal ?
I see an issue in my forum, maybe related to the servers changes.

Just wait - no problem. 1.1.8 is OK, that's a problem on SMF side, not your forum :)

I wondered why I couldn't get in, but minutes later I could. It makes perfect sense now. Keep up the great work. You all do a fantastic job. :)

I know that it is for the better, but it is rather annoying, but with no other way of doing it, I will just have to live. :(

metallica48423

I'll work on getting that fixed ASAP :)

At this moment, there're a few long wait-times. But, generally, this place has suddenly gone "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!".

It's really fast!

Nice one, people!

It's been a long time I've had this, and it isn't really related to this maintenance, but it would probably make an ideal time to fix it. :P

I've had my smilies set to the Classic YaBB SE set, but what I get visually are the Alienine set and are even reading from it's /default directory. My guess is that something is up with them in the Smilies and Message Icons area of the admin center.

Attachments should now be fixed.

The version issue should also now be fixed.  SMF 2.0 boards will need to either wait for the fetch simplemachines files scheduled task to run, or run it manually, for it to update.
