first i want to say hello ;)

as an admin of a webportal that is based on a smf 1.1.12, i have the following question:

is it possible to show the first post of a topic or even just a single post via ssi? i want to show different single posts (posted in different boards) on the startpage and other pages of the site. if you want, you can look at our site (so you can imagine, what i want to do): http://www.newerth.com/ [nofollow]

for now, we are working with the ssi_boardContent() to show the startpage entries. but the problem with the ssi_boardContent() is, that we need to have a specific board to display the content shown on the frontpage. that means, if we want to show content on another page we have to create a new board for each page. so i asked myself, if its possible to import a specific single post or the first post on a specific topic via ssi?

hope you can help me ::)

I was going to suggest Simple Portal, because that has a pre-configured block, which does that.

How's about getting SP and seeing how that block's coded?

thanks for your quick reply. we dont want to use an additional portal, because we are writing our own portal by ourselfs. yes - it would be possible to test this out on my local xampp and to take a look at how the code of that specific block is written. nice idea ;)

but i found this one: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=357
and this one: http://custom.simplemachines.org/mods/index.php?mod=751

i think we will do it with the SSI SINGLE MESSAGE. just have to modify the output a bit and that's it.

If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer. If that fails, read the manual.
