I am thinking about having my web host move one of my web sites (which contains my forum) to a new server block that has many new features

My old server is still running PHP version 4.4.7, Windows NT
I am running SMF 1.1.9

Here's a list of the features on the newer servers

Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2003
IIS v.6.0
PHP 4.4.7 or PHP 5.2.1
.Net Framework v.1.1
.Net Framework v.2.0
MS SQL Server 2005
MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver
Zend Extension Manager v1.2.0
Zend Optimizer v3.2.6
SiteStudio 1.8

I wanted to check here first and make sure there won't be any problems migrating the forum software over to the new server based on the items above. Mostly I wanted to make sure there would not be a problem with the PHP version and the MySql data base version?

I am not much of a computer geek, so I need to check in with those that are more knowledgable.
Anyone see any problems with this move?
Tip on making the move smoothly?

Thanks all
Doug

Running phpinfo.php on my old server shows this info

MySQL Support enabled
Active Persistent Links  0
Active Links  0
Client API version  3.23.49

The forum runs great currently.
Maybe some others can weigh in on the MySql deal.

thanks, appreciate the info

Ah ok, thanks
Wasn't sure if that was a valid MySql version or not.
I am currently browsing the PHP MyAdmin control panel looking for info on what MySql version I current am using.

If that makes any difference or not, not sure?

Sorry if this is superfluous, just want to make sure it's clear. The list displayed doesn't show MySQL database system is installed at all, all it shows is a driver that can be used to emulate MySQL, while actually storing data in a Microsoft MSSQL database.
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.

Sorry, I am not really up on databases at all.
The only one I have ever really had is the one for the SMF forum.

So you are saying there are many different kinds of databases and mine is not necessarily a MySql
Correct?

Sorry about being DB stupid, I never really had any need for one until I installed the SMF forum.

Thanks for the info.
I did not know that about databases.

Thanks, but my main question has not been answered yet. (I think)  :D

Based on this info, is it safe to go ahead and have my web host move me to the new server?
I don't want to do anything unless I am 100% sure.
Was hoping a SMF developer would just pop in and give the go ahead.

Well, I would prefer one that has MySQL, instead of one that "emulates" it. However, if you try nonetheless, remember the main rules: backup, backup and then backup again. And nothing too bad will happen :).

I'll mark this solved for now - but if something evil did happen, feel free to mark the topic not solved again, and post back with details on the problem :)
