Spell Checker Not Working

Hi guys

My server doesn't have pspell so I use phpSpell that I got from this topic - http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=138885.0

Everything's been working fine for months since I installed it but today a user told me it wasn't working. The button is still there on the reply screen but nothing happens when you click it.

I've tried everything but I'm not exactly sure how to fix it. I've been poring over code from post.template.php, subs-post.php and post.php...even my display.template.php files and running them through Beyond Compare to compare to slightly earlier versions but I can't find anything that stands out and says "I'm the culprit. I broke your spell check."

Any ideas?

P.S. using 1.1.9, and yes, spell check is enabled (even though this is a different spell checker, I thought I'd mention it).

OK so my investigations continued to take me down the obvious path of recently installed mods. The only one that changed a boatload of code was PrettyURLs. Instead of uninstalling it I thought I'd just turn it off first.

It worked.

With URL rewriting turned off the spell check window opened again and worked.

The question now is how to get it working with PrettyURLs turned on.

When the spell check window is open the URL looks like this:

http://blinkersforum.org/forum/spelling/phpSpell.html

Not sure if that helps.

I have double checked and this is indeed what's causing the problem. Can they co-exist peacefully?

Try posting that question in the PrettyURLs support topic.  Some of the other users may have run into a similar problem.

Hi Jim

Yeah I did post there, seems another user is having the same problem with AJAXChat.

It appears that PrettyURLs doesn't like it if a function like the spell checker or the chat reside in their own folder because it thinks that the folder is a board...(or something like that).

Waiting for Dannii to respond with ideas.

Cool, hopefully Dannii will come along soon.
