Report To Moderator Feature on 2.0

I have a few quick questions about this feature. :)

There are 2 options to take care of a report from the "moderation area". Ignore and Close. When you close one, it moves it to the "old reports" category. Once there I have the option to "open" or "Ignore".

1. How to I actually "delete" those reports once I am done with them? If I click on Ignore I get this message:

Problem is: it says "further reports". I dont want to ignore "further" reports just this one. Does that mean that nobody will ever be able to report that post "ever again"?

2. It seems to send them to the "old reports" category after just a couple of days. Is there a way to change that or completely turn it off (what I would prefer) so that they wont be moved there unless I close them?

3. Is there a way to turn of moderators getting the emails?

4.

What actions actually get recorded? I closed the report and it didnt record it so I assume it ONLY records moderators actions and I assume since the only two actions available are close and ignore, those are what it records? Can other moderators see the IP addresses listed there when a mod performs an action? (sorry I just dont want them seenig anyone elses IPs)  lol. I have two other Admins, is it gonna record what they did and will their IP's show up? (or do I have to go all the way to the Admin Log to see that info? I have several groups that are different types of mods. Will it record theirs as well, or will it only record someone who is in the Moderator or Global Moderator Groups?

Is there a How To guide for 2.0 out there somewhere lol?

===================

ok well I decided to stop what I was doing and do some testing on this - and basically found out some of what I needed to know. The Ignore button is just what it says.. it will ignore that report and ALL subsequent reports made on that same post. While a report remains open, any subsequent reports will be ADDED to the initial report and once a report is closed, if there are new reports on the same post, it will show up as a NEW report. However...lol. I still need to know how to "delete" the reports once they have been marked closed. I dont want all those closed reports cluttering up that area because well once we take car eof them, they arent needed anymore :)

There is one problem with it tho.. i does NOT record the actions of Global Moderators or Moderators Groups- I had one mark a report closed and nothing showed up. Is tis something that needs to be turned on and if so where? It also does NOT record it in the main mod log, so therefore.. its not "recorded" anywhere..lol. It also did not record in my Admin log any of the times I myself closed a report or clicked the ignore button.

Quote1. How to I actually "delete" those reports once I am done with them? If I click on Ignore I get this message:

I believe it is intentional that you cannot delete closed mod reports. However in Admin area > (Maintenance) Log Pruning you can set:  "Remove report to moderator log entries older than"

Just close it. If someone reports the same post again, it should create a new report :)

Quote3. Is there a way to turn of moderators getting the emails?

Moderation log > Change Settings > Notify of topic reports

QuoteWhat actions actually get recorded?

Topic move, topic deletion, post deletion, topic split, topic edit and other actions like that :). IPs are only shown to members who have permissions to view IPs (which depends on how you have done your permission. If they can view IPs in posts, they should be able to in the moderation log)

I don't think the 2.0 docs on this have been done yet :(

Wow thanks for the great response :). YOU need to be the one writing the docs :). One more quick question:

It seems to send them to the "old reports" category AND close them out after just a couple of days. Is there a way to change that or completely turn it off (what I would prefer) so that they wont be moved there unless I close them? Its sending reports there that we havent even had a chance to take care of yet :(

I've never experienced this before. Are you sure nobody has closed them?

ok after testing this extensively, here is what i have determined

As long as nobody makes any changes to the post that has been reported, the "report" will remain active and "open". Once someone makes any kind of change to the post that was reported (ie edits it, etc), the report auto closes and moves to the Archived Report category.

That is interesting. Sounds like we might have another item for the bugtracker.

ETA: Ok, I tested this with a few different accounts and can't seem to reproduce it. I can use a standard member account to report a post made by another member.
I then log out and log back in as the member who originally made the post, and edit the post. When I log back in as admin the report is still open.

Are you getting any error messages at all?

Kimmie

no, no errors. I am also trying to duplicate it. Cant seem to..lol. I had 3 reports earlier that were closed when I came on, nobody wanted to take the blame, and unfortunately, those actions arent recorded anywhere. Reason why I thought it was after someone had edited the reported post is because thats the only thing that I could "see" that was done to "all of them".

I have seen a few weird things happen that we have had to chalk up to being issues with the upgrade because we cant find any other explanation for them this may just be one of those hiccups..lol.

I may have to chalk this one up to "someone" closed it and NOBODY wants to fess up to it for fear of a butt chewin (unless it keeps happening) because another "unfortunately" is that the setting to disallow anyone but admins to even see that area doesnt work on the gmod group so I cant stop them from going in there, and I cant prove who did what.. :(

Kimmie

Guess I will have to since those actions are not recorded in the mod log and unfortunately, that setting does not work.

any particular reason why when they made 2.0, that they chose to record every mod action "except" these?   :(

H

I double checked this for you and mod reports should only be auto-closed if an action is taken on them by someone. It may be that this person wasn't aware that there was even an outstanding mod report for the issue :).

I believe there might be some problems with the mod log in RC1. Hopefully these will be addressed in RC2. Something to note is that if a user deletes a post and it goes to the trash but they do not have rights to moderate the trash, they will not be able to view the log entry in the moderation centre.

Quoteauto-closed if an action is taken on them by someone

Does "Them" = the report, or the post that was reported?

If that means the post that was reported, then does that mean if  someone even so much as "edits" that post (for whatever reason), it auto closes the report that was on it because it thinks the report was taken care of? (if so.. uh oh..not good..lol)

And after reading this part:

QuoteIt may be that this person wasn't aware that there was even an outstanding mod report for the issue

I asssume you mean unless something is done to the post that got reported. (ugh...lol)

H

"them" = the post(s) that have been reported. I believe only deleting (and perhaps splitting) causes the report to close
