YaBB - attachments

If you're willing, I'd like someone to beta test the attached version of the YaBB converter.  It does attachments as well as everything the old converter did.

Hmm. I got the same result from the other converter, too. I'll delete the database and try again with this one.

I did!

But that one doesn't include the attatchments!
So that's why I tried this one. I did post the result here.
What can I do?

That one does include attachments - at least as done by the stanadard attachments mod.

I just retried the converter in the downloadsection BUT it wont convert any messages!
The one you posted here does!
But it won't convert the attatchments

I have a heavy modded board, so it was better to go of from a new install and copy the needed files into their dir.
YABB 1.4 with the above attach-mod did the job.
The forum works fine incl. attatchments.

Your board works fine to except the attatchments

I tried a new install of yabb 1.3 now. The mod I posted here is for that install.
I copied all files in the correct dir.
Made a new smf install (latest incl latest Yabb to smf converter and a clean db)

The converter does every step!
But when I login there are NO postings! In the attachment dir are attachments ... But only 400 real YABB-attach content is 2498 files
When I tell the board to Recount all forum totals and statistics. The postings in the board appear
BUT the attachments the board DID convert ara NOT the right attachments ... filenames are corect but content is NOT the content the file should have  

I tried a lot of different thing ... please help me I can't figure it out myself :S

I got it working now!
But I have another question

Is it correct that the LAST converter ONLY converts attachments in the topic and not in the replies?

If so what do I need to alter so that the attachments in the replies also get converted?

It should convert all attachments regardless of their position in the topic.

If this is true ... then there must be an error in my board!

Can you tell me where to look?
the attachments are on position 13 in each message ... why does it convert in one an the same message only the first line and not the following lines (the attachments ... txt converting IS WORKING)?

I'm working for weeks on this problem .... can't figure it out

For one thing, that's a really old converter. You should use the one on the downloads page instead. I don't know why it would only convert the attachments in the first message of each topic.

I DO use the converter that's in the downloadspage!
That my Q is in this topic is only because this is a yabb topic

I checked every message in my yabb manually!
ALL the attachments ARE on position 13
there are about  1058 files  (1.3 GB)  in the Dir

The converter from the downloadspage only converts 500 MAX
NOT logical is that this converter sometimes converts 400 next time 100 and than again 200

If there is an error the converter should "die" at the same point.

I'm an PHP noob but experimenting with the converter was resulting in converting 1134 files ... the gain in number is that yabb uses one att-file in more posting IF posted in separated messages.
SMF converts this to new file-encryption (files).
Unfortunately the converter dies @ step 12

What did I do?

I changed line 1506 into

LIMIT $_REQUEST[start], 1000");

I think I repaired my yabb ... working on this for weeks now
I cant understand WHY the converter isn't converting my YABB
WHAT are crucial points? How is the converter handling the attachments?
IS the converter capable handling large attachment-dirs?
Are there people out there who have converted large att-dirs in their yabb?
OR is my server overloaded? (if this is a real option ... how can I increase the timeout in the converter?)

UNKOWN was working on it ... but I never heard from him again
LOTS of questions ... I know .. but I really wannahave SMF and don't want to lose my old postings

That change means it will now try to convert 1000 attachments at a time instead of 500, which is probably causing it to time out. I will tell Compuart to take a look at this issue though and see what he can accomplish, as he knows more about the converters than I do.

I've tried the the edit you suggested! But as result the converter converted less instead of more attachments!

In the posting that's gone I told you that I got more then 1 problem.
- The boards are in wrong order!
- The Recount all forum totals and statistics. doesn't work in the converter... Forum Maintenance does the job well! all posts are converted AFTER using this option!
- The attachments of my YABB aren't ALL converted!

My Q was ... how does the converter handle the attachments....
Is only position 13 in the yabb-file critical or is there more what I should check?
I manually checked all yabb-postings on this position.

Can it be that my server is the bottleneck? I use IIS6 with PHP5
Can it be my server gets overloaded? what (converter) setting can I edit for longer timeout?
