My error log is filled with TONS.

Examples :

f08f43f0833cc26a82f3169fc375b51a

Type of error: Undefined

http://mommatime.com/forum/index.php?action=forum [nofollow]

8: Undefined offset: 334

File: /home/westatla/public_html/forum/Themes/Colorful-Colourful_Theme/BoardIndex.template.php (main sub template - eval?)
Line: 178

and database error:

http://mommatime.com/forum/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=album;id=1 [nofollow]

Database Error: Illegal mix of collations (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_unicode_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation 'ifnull'

File: /home/westatla/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-MGallery.php
Line: 2672

I am learning but still really new at all of this so any help that anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Theme related problem by the look of it. The first one is due to the theme trying to call a separate forum link without having it defined. Did you add the forum button manually? You may have forgotten to add some of the extra code.

The second is a dumb error caused by someone putting 1.1.10 code into a 2.0 theme. I can't see your board index but are you running any mods at all?

Thanks for the fast reply.
I did not do it manually. I am not too good at this.I use the package uploader and then the tech people at my host co. have helped some.  How would I fix the first with theme?

Re mods: Yes I have AEVA installed but that is the only one that I can see.  I had others when on 1.1.10 but when I upgraded to 2.0 rc1.2 I just did not put them back on as the new version had most of what I wanted anyway. I do have Simple Portal installed.

Could either of these issues mess with registration?

Question: where did you get that theme? It hasn't been approved so I suspect it contains some errors. I'd suggest finding another one.

http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?action=search;basic_search=Rengarenk

ETA: And no, neither of these errors would affect registration. Unfortunately I can't use the onsite package parser at the moment so I can't check the files edits for Simple Portal.

Oh gosh I have completely screwed it up now. :( I can not get it to look halfway normal... It is showing as text instead of the regular view.

Antechinus

Looks ok to me. Try Ctrl+F5.

Donnamarie1983

The way it looks is working now.. I do not undertand. My host says I need to delete the whole board and do a new one.  I am so not good at this that I do not know what else to do but take their advice and just trash it. But then I lose EVERYTHING.. :(

I now have over 20,000 errors so it would be impossible to post all. If anyone can help me, please let me know. I am so new at all of this.

It seems like these errors come from one of the gallery mod. Which one have you installed?

I attempted a while ago to install SMG

Antechinus

Ok, first of all don't worry about these too much as they shouldn't affect your forum's general use. A single undefined index error in one place will repeat like crazy but is not a big issue and can be dealt with. The second error shouldn't matter if the gallery is not actually installed at the moment. You certainly do not have to trash your forum and start again. :)

First question: when you say you attempted to install the gallery, does that mean it is installed or not?
If it isn't then Subs-MGallery.php shouldn't be there. If it is then you have some incomplete edits to deal with.

Thank you! I am stressing. My host (TMD) is telling me that the only way to fix this is
1) restore - which I am being told is not possible (I am not too good at this stuff but that sounds like the lazy way out?)
2)hire a developer
3) trash it all and start over

So, even though it is a small site it had a lot (to me) of posts... Hate to hit delete.. I do have a backup on my computer that I did a few days back but no idea how to fix it.

I tried to put the SMG on my forum. I could not get it to install. It kept telling me that the file is corrupt or not compatible (I think that is the wording it used). It was not showing as a Mod or a part of it.

I need to learn more I guess. I am a hands on type and unfortunately no one I know really knows this. So I am going at it on my own.. I have killed it a few times now. So eventually I will learn :)

Thanks for your help!!!

Your host is not speaking via the conventional orifice. :)

If the gallery didn't install then this error shouldn't exist:

Type of error: Database

http://mommatime.com/forum/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=album;id=1 [nofollow]

Database Error: Illegal mix of collations (utf8_general_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_unicode_ci,IMPLICIT) for operation 'ifnull'

File: /home/westatla/public_html/forum/Sources/Subs-MGallery.php
Line: 2672

The reason is that if it didn't install then it shouldn't have created any files specific to the gallery, and it obviously did (or someone did somewhere along the line).

If you have killed the place several times I suspect you have leftover files and code from one of the previous attempts at murder.  :D

What I would suggest doing at this stage is a file refresh. This will clean up your forum back to a default SMF installation but will not affect your database (which contains all the post, topic and member information).

It will also uninstall all mods. They can then one reinstalled one at a time, making sure to check both forum functionality and the error log after installing each one and using it for a bit.

This would be the quickest and cleanest way of making sure you are starting from a solid base. Do you know how to use FTP?

How do I use FTP? / What is FTP?

What you want to do is to get this zip: http://download.simplemachines.org/index.php?thanks;filename=smf_2-0-rc1-2_upgrade.zip

Extract the files from it on your desktop and load everything except upgrade.php into the correct locations.

Wow! I am asking my host to help me as I am not sure I know the right way to use the FTP and well that could be how I messed it up to begin with lol :)  I am going to put myself to bed for the night.. my brain is hurting

My guess is that I will be attempting this tomorrow as they seem to not want to help even though it is what they say they do in their advertisement (Sorry I will stop ranting :) )

OASN- I was going to PM you. But will ask you here.. Is the Portamx as easy to use as Simple Portal and compatible with Media Gallery (if I can figure it out haha) and the arcade? BTW once I get it going I would be glad to advertise for you and even now on my blog. I think your ideas are great!

Have a good night. 5am comes early here.

Antechinus

I haven't tried using the arcade mod myself (I just use an iframe in a portal block to pull in some games from Poodwaddle) but from memory the SMG mod didn't conflict with Porta last time I tried it.

Porta is easy to use in my opinion but it can be tricky to install on some servers. That doesn't bother me, and it wont bother anyone whose server is correctly configured, but if you have little or no technical knowledge and a funny server then you may find Porta to be a pain during upgrades.

Fel has some great ideas on layout and functionality. Overall I much prefer PortaMx to Simple Portal but obviously other people will have different opinions. The best option is to set yourself up a test site that you can play with without affecting your live site. This is simply another folder on your domain that holds a separate installation of SMF. It is also handy if you can put the test site on a separate database.
