Can I explicitly deny a usergroup board permissions?

I have an SMF forum (2.0 RC1.2)

Almost all of the boards are set up on the general permissions which give view access to general members. Just a few have a different permissions profile to deny posting to general members and allow only to a specific group.

Is there a way that I can explicitly deny boards to s specific group so they are visible to general members unless they are in that group?

This would save me denying all my boards to general members and having to add almost all new members to a group to see the bulk of the forum.

To explain the mindset behind this. The forum is a private alliance board for an alliance in an online game. Alliance members accepted have visibility of all boards automattically.
I would like to create a board for ambasadors of other alliances so, when I accept their application to the board and add them to the ambassador group it denies access to all but the Embassy board.

However note that it works on permission profiles as a true permission, meaning you will have to set up that board separately with its own profile. But yes, it's possible.

Ahh, I take it though, once installed I could just use it to change the permissions on the default permissions set.

Normally every board uses the Default profile, i.e. each board runs the same for each membergroup. You'll have to create a new profile for this one board.

Ahh, you see the thing is I want to deny all boards to the new usergroup if you see what I mean.

would it not just be easier to make the board not visible to that one group.
Like on my forum i have a board that only mods and admins can access.
And another that only admins can access
