personalized rss feeds?

I couldn't decide whether post here or in Coding Discussion, so feel free to move it where it should be if needed

Is there any simple way to personalize RSS feeds for a given smf based forum?

As an example of what I am trying to achieve: here on smf.org I have ignored a number of boards that are not relevant to me, so the topics from those boards are not showing up for me when checking unread. and now assuming I want to subscribe to new content by rss this of course is not being taken under consideration.

I know that this will probably generate a huge load, but would it be possible to add to rss link an user ID and when the feed will be checked, it will actually provide updates to boards that aren't ignored? or it's not that simple like I think it is?

secondly, are there any services/sites that provide such a functionality?

I know that I might subscribe only to the boards I want, but it's not future-proof (new boards created after I subscribed) and time consuming when there's a substantial amount of boards to subscribe to.

any hints?

What you can do for the moment is: you can ask for rss feed for a few boards only, or for a few categories.
Examples:

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml;board=2

will allow you to subscribe to RSS for the board with id=2, meaning this one, SMF Feedback and Discussion.

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml;boards=2,1

will allow you to subscribe to RSS for SMF Feedback and Discussion, and News and Updates.

http://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?type=rss;action=.xml;c=2

to the entire Simple Machines category.
And any combination of them.

PS: moving this topic to feature requests, because IMHO it may be worth looking at some possibility to personalize it for user preferences.
To-do lists are for deferral. The more things you write down the later they're done... until you have 100s of lists of things you don't do.

Ah. That's what you get for posting before the first coffee.
I agree, yes.
We could look at a possibility to take into account user preferences, IMHO.
