categories not shown

I want to say that I made categories but they are not sowing up in front y is this so?

secondly how can I permanently delete DEFAULT category?

1/ What access permissions have you set on those categories?

2/ Are there any boards to display in those categories yet?

3/ No need to delete. Just rename it and use it.
