Now I got the forum up and running on this URL: http://mydomain.com/2/index.php and I want to move it into the domain root, can I just move it or do I have to fix something first?

I am also wondering this!
I assume the database has to be edited to be pointed to the right place?

Mick.

For smf 2.0....

-In settings.php, (found in the root of the forum) edit the URL of your forum with the new URL.

-Run the repair_settings.php to fix all paths of your forum.  (after applying all your database credentials, click on every link to correct the paths).

-In admin--->theme settings---> at the very end below, click on "attempt to reset all themes".

So first move the /forums directory to the root directory and follow the next steps? That's it?
Also, what is put here for the root directory?
$boardurl = 'http://www.mysite.com/forums';
is it
$boardurl = 'http://www.mysite.com'; ?

Where do we change the database credentials? Is it while using repair_settings.php?

Thanks!

Mick.

Can I make a backup of everything, the forum files and the datebase first?

smp420

Your not making changes to the db or any files except Settings.php, but its up to you backing up is never bad. all you have to do is move everything to the root and run repair_settings using all the reccomended paths then reset all themes as bluedevil said.
