I'm trying to warn you about a Malware Detected warning in Google Chrome and the site is telling me I'm not permitted to post an external link, it isn't it's a link to a thread within the site pointing you to where I got the warning.

YogiBear

Then can you state the Category, Board and Topic name.

You won't be able to post an active link anyway under a given post count.

Since joining on 22 January this year, how often have you noticed this warning? Have any other of the fora you post on returned this warning?

Just today.

This was the warning I got:

Quote
Warning: Visiting this site may harm your computer!
The website at www.simplemachines.org contains elements from the site hxxp:www.moobi.com.tr [nonactive], which appears to host malware – software that can hurt your computer or otherwise operate without your consent. Just visiting a site that contains malware can infect your computer.
For detailed information about the problems with these elements, visit the Google Safe Browsing diagnostic page for hxxp:www.moobi.com.tr [nonactive].

I understand that visiting this site may harm my computer.

Its in Customizing SMF >> Graphics and Templates

The thread is called "Creating Themes for SMF 2.0 - 01 The Basics"

I'm trying to read that thread as I'm wanting to create a new theme, I could just ignore the error and then scan my system for any malware but don't really want to do that if the offending posts with that website in it are edited.

No this doesn't happen on any other site.

YogiBear

Hmm, I can't replicate this using my own PC but have reported this to Moderators just in case.

I tried too with chrome, even clicked on the links concerned in the topic, no problem.

What are your computer protections? Have you any chrome extensions?

It's a false warning.  The images in that topic are hosted at moobi.com.tr... there is nothing dangerous on that topic.

moobi.com.tr itself has been compromised, but you're only loading images from there... nothing dangerous about that.

Yes. The only need to know now is what is giving this false positive.

Chrome doesn't give anything, so it's a 3rd party soft on his computer...

Ok, strangely, it's only the site itself who is blacklisted by the navigators, not the images stored on it....

So false positive to pass on the navigator....

Funny thing is, I get this as well on that exact topic.

I use Avast! as my antivirus. May be it, I'm not sure. I am using the Google Chrome 6 beta by the way.

It is those images and nothing more.

I know that, and read it. I wasn't trying to prove you wrong, only verify the OPs statement ;)

too bad the image host was compromised :( I use Imageshack. If that gets compromised, what has the world come to?!?! :P

Actually it is a good thing. :P We changed the images. It should stop in a few days. :)

pivotraze

:P Okie! That is definitely good ;) What host did you change em to?

**UPDATE**
Right Click --> Open image in new tab displays "Imageshack.us" as the host ;) good choice!

Secondly, already stopped! I got no message from Google Chrome.

I use imageshack quite alot and well tinypic gives out those bandwidth images as far as I can remember. So imageshack should not be a problem now.

Nice to hear that the message has gone. :)

pivotraze

So do I. Imageshack.US is the best image hosting site available (as far as I know. Photobucket does those stupid bandwidth images as well)

It is indeed :) So I'm sure this topic is resolved! :D
