Testing changes

Hi all,
Still new to SMF as I took over an existing forum.  We are looking to make changes, both visually and functionally.  What I need to know is this, is there a way to have a test version of the forum that is only visible to the developers.  Ideally, then everything could be tested there, then propagated to the main site when we are happy with it.  Thanks for your patience and help.

Just put the site in maintenance mode and only admins will be able to access the forum. If you really want secrecy you can set up a password-protected sub-domain but that may be overkill.

I would just throw it up in a subdomain to test and only let your admins or w/e have the link to it.  Not like it's gonna be around very long or something that really NEEDS to be secretive since it'll be a blank forum.
