  Hello

I'll just start off with a question to see which direction this goes first.

Can the email sent out by the forum be encrypted either by password or by the public/private key process?? If so, is this something SMF could handle by the way of a mod creation or does this fall under the web host??

I was thinking 2 fields could be added to registration and the account settings to input either a password or their public key.

i am not sure i am following you, you want a password or lock on your forum to send emails? this is not currently a feature and i am not sure why this would be wanted. can you explain in more detail what you are trying to do?

More people are choosing to secure their email communication these days - both send and receive. So i wanted to know if the forum emails that get sent out to members could be encrypted if they provided a password they wish to use for receiving email or with the use of their public key.

smf only supports php and smtp for email, unless one of those supports what you want then it would be possible to add it but I dont see it being a default feature, maybe a mod request may work if one of those protocols support what you want.

Yes - GNUpg can work on servers but wanted to see if this was in any way possible with sending out emails with the SMF forum software before questing a possible mod. If you think it is possible then by all means move this thread to that section.

   Thanks!

I dont see why it why it couldnt be done, most likely the best option would be with using a public key option.
PM at your own risk, some I answer, if they are interesting, some I ignore.

Ok - Mods, if you don't mind, i'm going to mark this solved and open up a mod request in the proper section linking back here.

     Thanks for the responses!
