Private Message Separate List and View Request

Hi all,

We just converted to v2 RC4, and the complaints are rolling in on the PM system views. On our previous v1.x install we were able to use the View Single PM mod to correct the issue. But so far I havent figured out if I am missing something or what.

When people go into their inbox, they want to see only the message list, no preview of a/the message at all. When they click on a message, they want to view that message only, without the message list being dragged along with it. With the "One At a Time" option set, theres always a message and list glued on the page.

So right now, best we seem to be able to do is the "One at a time" setting:




The Mod desired is: when going into the inbox, is just the list of messages, something like:


Click on the message you want to view, and get something like this:


And when you want to get back to the message list/index, you just click back on the Inbox.

Not sure if this should be a Mod request or a Feature request (it really should be an option in the regular build IMHO).

I know its a pretty 'traditional' layout for PM systems (for any board software), but a lot of people still prefer it that way. SMF always seems to include every way but the 'traditional' way, lol.

Thanks to Griffy for providing a link to this thread & thanks to live627 for working up a mod for us, so..... what's the deal then, you gotta wait until someone gives an ok or something?  I thought custom mods were just put out by ppl who knew how to do it, guess I never realized they go though a screening process, lets hope they don't take to long, thanks again guys.
