Hi everyone,

I wonder if I'm doing right or not, so I'm switching to Maintenance Mode and then , connecting the httpdocs/forum directory and downloading everything inside this directory into my computer... Is this the correct way to recover my forum after any unsuccessful upgrade process ?

Or what could be the any other offline and solid backup method for my SMF 2.0 RC3 forum?

Thank you very much...

I usually save the public HTML files then use the backup database option in the Admin.

You also don't have to type all in capital letters, it's annoying. ;)

I like capital letters, it's easier to read  ;D

The only important files you would ever need to save are the 'attachments' directory.  What you really need to worry about is your database... no database = no forum.

If you have cPanel and your host has enabled CRON jobs in your cPanel, do a Google search for automated cpanel cron backups, which can do virtually anything from compressing files and FTP/SCP/Rsync them to another server, or if the filesize is small enough, email it to yourself.
